Indiana Mushroom Hunting Report
We have not had any mushroom reports in the past two weeks. They just might be done for another year.
Fishing Report.
In general all fishing has improved. Bluegill are trying to make their beds between weather systems. Bass are not far behind them, and are being caught in shallow water near spawning areas. Cat fishing has picked up in most of our rivers.
Farm Pond and pit fishing report
: A good bluegill bite. Bee moth and red worms for bluegill. I've several limits of bluegill being caught. The crappie bite is about the same. It's hit and miss for crappie. Bobber & minnows seem to be the best bait. Some small bass being caught on plastic jerk baits and rattletraps. Bass being taken this week in shallow water around wood structure and emerging weed lines. Bigger bass are a little deeper being taken on plastics. Bass are being caught in shallow water near spawning grounds.
Martinsville City Park fishing report
: Crappie and bass have been moving into shallow water. Lots of small dink crappie and bluegill are being caught on minnows, red worms, and bee moth. Most bass are small and some were fanning beds. I did see a couple nice channel cats being caught last week by an angler using chicken livers.
Hubbard's Pay Lake fishing report
Fishing is good ! Some nice carp, flatheads, and a few blue cats being caught at Hubbard's Pay Lake near Mooresville. Call for hours before going. Fishing has been improving. Fishing has steadily been improving. Some big fish are being caught !
White River fishing report:
A couple nice flatheads being taken in the Paragon, and Spencer areas of the river using live bluegill, skipjack, and livers as bait. A few small channel cats being taken on nightcrawlers and stink baits. A few carp on whole kernel sweet corn. Smallmouth bass are hitting small crankbaits and in-line spinners such as Rooster tails. Road-runners are effective too ! Water is slightly high and muddy.
White River at State road 67 near the IPL dam
: No change: Some very small bass being taken out of the river here. Some of these bass looked awfully short to be put on someone's stringer ! No sauger or walleye to report. A few carp being taken from this area, along with a few small channel cats. Lot's of trash in this area that anglers are leaving behind.
Patton Lake fishing report
Some nice bluegill being caught in shallow water. Fish with redworms and bee moth. Bluegill have begun making nest. Crappie fishing has picked up around downed trees and wood structure. They have been catching some big carp below the dam. Bass fishing has improved and fish are hitting on spinnerbaits. A poor bite for catfish. Some yellow belly catfish being caught on nightcrawlers. NOTE: If you hit the lake right after a very heavy rain, go to the shallow end of the lake where Lambs creek flows into the main lake. Stay out of the current as trees, and other debris flow into the lake there. Use heavy weights and cast into the currents and you'll catch some very nice channel cats here. This only works after a very hard rain while waters flowing into the lake.
