Indiana Fishing Report April 27, 2012.

Indiana Mushroom Hunting Report

Mushroom hunting has slowed down with that last cold front pushed though. Still a few being found. Give it a couple warm sunny days and I'm hoping they will pop back up again.

Indiana Fishing Report

In general: Crappie and bass fishing did slow down last week due to the cold fronts that pushed through. We are getting some good signs that the bite is beginning to pick back up with good reports coming in from Eagle Creek reservoir and Dogwood Lake.

There are several lakes where water levels remain low.

Indiana Farm Ponds and Pits

Fishing has slowed. The last cold front moved them a little deeper. All fishing did slow down. The bite should improve if we can get a steady weather pattern going on. Some bass, bluegill, and crappie being caught.

Lake Lemon Fishing Report

Lake Lemon has a fair bite for crappie, bass, and catfish. Lake Lemon is a sleeper lake, and has been for years. Lot's of anglers by-pass it because Monroe reservoir is so close, and boat ramp fees at Lemon are so darn high.

Dogwood Lake

A good bite for bluegill using crickets and redworms.  Lots of dink bass being caught by bank anglers. Crappie fishing seems to be improving with a few nice catch's being made.

Sullivan Lake Fishing Report

It's a great lake to fish if you can get past all the little ones. A fair bite for crappie and bass. Most crappies are dinks. Some nice bluegill being caught. Fishing for channel cats has improved.

Patoka Lake Fishing Report

A fair bite for crappie and bass. The bass bite had turned on with several nice ones being caught in shallow water near spawning area's. Crappie are being taken near downed wood structure on bobber and minnows. Cat fishing has slowed somewhat, but some nice channel cats being taken on nightcrawlers and cutbait. The carp bite is fair.

Monroe Reservoir Fishing Report

A decent crappie bite near wood structure. Crappie are moving shallow. Bobber and minnows seem to be the preferred baits. Some nice bass being taken in shallow water near spawning areas using plastic baits.

Blue Grass Fish and Wildlife Area

Fishing has slowed, but a few crappie and bass are still being caught.

White river fishing report:

The river fishing has slowed down with only some channel cats, carp, and some smallmouth bass being taken. Smallmouth being taken on small crankbaits, and jigs tipped with minnows.

Brookville Reservoir Fishing Report

No reports of any walleye this week. I think the weathers got them all messed up. A fair bite for bluegill and crappie. Channel catfishing is fair with stink baits, cut bait, and live baits.

Ohio River fishing report

Ohio River Fishing Report from the Ohio DNR.

April 25, 2012

Cincinnati area (Hamilton County) – Water temperatures have fluctuated quite a bit in the past month, but as waters begin to warm cat fishing should turn on. Try any legal live bait or cut bait. Many anglers prefer really stinky baits regardless of the type and others use hot dogs as a secret weapon.

Greenup Pool Area – All anglers can find something to fish for in this area as an abundance of species can be found this time of year. Those looking for hybrid striped bass should hit the area around the coves near the RC Byrd dam. Rooster tail spinners have been successful when fished at eight to 10 feet. If you move over to the riprap near the cove, try an artificial lure fished off the bottom. Smallmouth bass and saugeye can also be caught with artificial lures fished off the bottom. For sauger, try a shiner fished off the bottom.

Willow Island Pool Area – With no rain in the recent weeks, water levels have dropped. Fish can still be found, but look for things to start picking up after the next rainfall event. Bait fish will start coming in as the water temperatures warm up with the spring weather.

Greene_Sullivan State Forest Lakes and Shakamak State Park Fishing Report

We were finding bluegill near shore where there was deeper water nearby. The bass fishing has slowed and the bite is fair. Slow rolling spinnerbaits is producing a few good fish. The crappie bite is fair. Airline Pit has been stocked with trout and they have been biting.  Indiana DNR reports some bass are spawning and on the beds.

Mississiniwa Lake fishing report

A fair bite for crappie and bass. The lake level is really low so watch out for those stumps. Watch those props !
